I was invited to be a member, with the first meeting in January 2014 and stood down in July 2016, of the
DfE Citizenship Expert Group
“The DfE is supporting independent National Curriculum Expert groups to explore the issues that stem from this for secondary (KS3) as well as primary, CPD and ITE. The groups will initially produce reports on the following three issues:
- Approaches to pedagogy which are likely to support the delivery of the curriculum;
- The gaps in teaching materials currently available raised by the new curriculum; and
- Options for how they might be filled.”
The Citizenship Expert Group (CEG) is chaired by Liz Moorse and has agreed terms of reference and membership. The remit includes a report to the minister by August 2014. A further meeting has been arranged for September 2014.
The group coordinated a Resources digest for teachers. [pdf 417kb]. It is planned to update this document in September 2014 so it may be worth checking the ACT website.
This Assessment and Progression Briefing [pdf 755kb] will be very useful, too.
It is also stored on the ACT site here: www.teachingcitizenship.org.uk/resource/act-curriculum-briefing-assessing-citizenship
