Work biography
As an independent consultant, Angus has coordinated a strategic project on the global dimension in the school curriculum and leadership for the Department for International Development (DFID). He is also a Geographical Association consultant and has led a project funded by the former Academy for Sustainable Communities. He has also written online CPD units for the DCSF-funded Action Plan for Geography, the Diploma Support Programme and the TDA.
Recent smaller-scale commissions include writing new project specifications, advising The Photographers’ Gallery, research for the British Council, a programme audit for BBC Schools, and writing for an international NGO and a web-publisher.
In addition to this mostly public-sector mix, he has six years experience as director of two voluntary-sector organisations concerning education for global citizenship and international development. This included publishing learning resources and management of DFID-funded projects such as setting up the award winning www.globaleye.org.uk. He has been an active member of Think Global (The Development Education Association), including a period as a trustee.
Angus has sixteen years experience as a secondary school teacher and a curriculum development director for local authority advisory services in Kent. This included a significant project engaging teachers in issues arising from the construction of the Channel tunnel and the European dimension. It was based at the Eurotunnel Exhibition Centre in Folkestone.
